Levosulpiride

Is a prokinetic agent with dual mechanism of action. It blocks the enteric dopamine (D2) receptors and also acts as an agonist at serotonin (5-HT4) receptor. Both the actions increase the release of acetylcholine (Ach). Acetylcholine increases GI peristalsis and also increases lower sphincter pressure thereby preventing reflux of GI contents towards esophagus.
